Skaferlatine was born in 1990 in Metz, north east of France ; the band was an headliner of the french ska scene of the 90’s.Ten years later, in 2000, the band parted after a big farewell tour in Europe.
At the beginning of the 90’s, just after a rich and an interesting wave of punk and alternative music in France (Mano Negra, Bérurier Noir, Ludwig von 88, Les Sheriff ...), the ska style was introduced and worked hard with bands like Skaferlatine and Skarface !! They revitalized the style ....
Quickly some new bands were born in France, La Ruda Salska, Marcel et Son Orchestre ...etc... It was the beginning of the peak of ska in France, his particularity was that the ska was mixed with other styles like metal, punk, funk and “French traditional Song” ; an other style of ska appeared also, it was called “Festive ska”,very fast and funny like comics and cartoons ; it was very popular in France in the 2000 years.First local heroes thanks to this new sound and their good mood, Skaferlatine began to tour everywhere in France. In their first years the band performed a very festive ska with disguises on stage and 10 musicians including girls singers.Their first album “En Piste” (1993) reflects this spirit. The second album “En Chantier” (1995) was more serious, less people in the band, the end of the disguises, they added some touches of reggae and ragga but still ska-rock style. At this period they started to tour intensively also abroad, especially in Germany and in the East countries where they were very loved. Last album “Basta basta” (1997) was very inspired by the singer, Piero, who did a solo career after the band ! This album sounded a little bit dark and was very interesting ...
Today, 5 historical musicians of Skaferlatine have decided to re-form the band for one only european tour : Piero (lead singer, guitar), Ralph (drums), Nico (Bass), Jérôme (Sax) and Sacha (Sax and more). It takes place from middle of june until end of november 2012.
